Culver-Stockton College recently hired three professors to join its faculty for the 2020-21 academic year. Patrick Allen will teach English, Lindsay Uhlmeyer will teach education and Lisa Prowant will teach biology.

English, education and biology professors to join C-SC faculty in fall

CANTON, Mo. — Culver-Stockton College recently hired three professors to join its faculty for the 2020-21 academic year.

Patrick Allen will be an assistant professor of English. He previously taught at Pennsylvania State University in University Park, Pa., and at Saint Mary High School in Westfield, Mass.

Allen earned his bachelor’s degree in English from Providence College in Providence, R.I., in 2010, then earned his master’s degree in secondary education from Providence in 2013. He received a second master’s degree, this one in English, from Pennsylvania State, then earned his doctorate in English in 2020 from Pennsylvania State.

Lisa Prowant will be an assistant professor of biology. She is completing work on her doctorate in the ecology and evolution department at Stony Brook University in Stony Brook, N.Y. She has teaching experience at Stony Brook and at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kan.

She received her bachelor’s degree in biology from Benedictine College in Atchison, Kan., in 2011, then earned her master’s degree in biological sciences from Fort Hays State.

Lindsay Uhlmeyer will be an assistant professor of education. She has been an adjunct education instructor at Culver-Stockton since 2018. She has taught Title I reading in grades K-6 for the Canton R-V Schools in Canton, Mo., since 2018, and she previously taught secondary communication arts in Canton from 2008-18. She also has teaching experience at John Wood Community College in Quincy, Ill., and for the Clark County R-I Schools in Kahoka, Mo. She has been a Scholastic Bowl coach since 2010 and a girls basketball coach since 2006.

Uhlmeyer earned her bachelor’s degree with a double major in communication and business administration from Culver-Stockton in 2004. She earned her master’s degree in learning, teaching and curriculum from the University of Missouri-Columbia in Columbia, Mo., in 2014, and she earned her doctorate in reading and literacy specialization from Capella University in Minneapolis in 2016.
