CANTON, Mo. — Dr. Angel Knoverek ‘93, an assistant professor of psychology, recently was invited to be an affiliate as part of the newly formed Complex Trauma Training and Treatment Network, an independent international affiliation of complex trauma scholars, therapists, clinical supervisors, researchers, assessment instruction and treatment model developers, evaluators, organizational consultants, academic educators, public speakers and professional trainers.

Affiliates are part of an independent network of senior complex trauma therapists and clinical supervisors. Membership is restricted to a carefully selected group of not more than two dozen psychotherapists across the United States and Canada and is based on longstanding demonstration of advanced clinical expertise treating children, adolescents, families, adults and/or couples impacted by complex traumatic stress, dissociation and related conditions. Affiliates participate in a monthly peer-reviewed group supervision and resource sharing series facilitated by the Complex Trauma Treatment Center in Boston.

Knoverek serves as an associate faculty to the Complex Trauma Treatment Institute, which provides specialized training around the world. She also serves as the co-chair of the National Child Traumatic Stress Network’s Complex Trauma/Developmental Trauma Disorder Work Group.

Knoverek, a native of Kahoka, Mo., also is the owner of Mindshift Center in Quincy, Ill., which offers counseling and training services. She previously served as the director of clinical and residential services at Chaddock in Quincy, Ill. She received her master’s degree in clinical psychology from Benedictine University in 2000 and her doctorate in counselor education and supervision from Regent University in 2012.
