CANTON, Mo. — Culver-Stockton College is ranked 21st among Best Value Schools in the Midwest Region in a ranking of colleges and universities by U.S. News & World Report released Monday.

The Midwest Region consists of schools from Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

U.S. News & World Report takes into account academic quality, cost and need-based aid to determine which schools offer the best value for students. Only schools ranked in the top half of the Best Colleges ranking categories — national universities, national liberal arts colleges, regional colleges and regional universities — were considered for the Best Value Schools lists.

Also of note:

  • Culver-Stockton is ranked No. 36 among Best Colleges in the Midwest Region. C-SC was ranked fifth among colleges in Missouri. C-SC has been ranked in the top 40 among Best Colleges in the Midwest Region 13 times in the past 14 years.
  • Culver-Stockton ranked No. 37 among regional colleges in the Midwest in top performers on social mobility. According to U.S. News & World Report, some colleges are more successful than others at advancing social mobility by enrolling and graduating large proportions of disadvantaged students awarded with Pell Grants. Most of these federal grants are awarded to students whose adjusted gross family incomes are less than $50,000. C-SC was the third-highest ranked school from Missouri on that list.

U.S. News & World Report has been providing nearly 50 different types of numerical rankings of colleges and universities since 1983.
