Ehrhart, Driscoll, Viorel added to C-SC Board of Trustees

CANTON, Mo. — Laura Gerdes Ehrhart and Gina Driscoll ’83 recently were elected to three-year terms on the Board of Trustees at Culver-Stockton College, and Steve Viorel ’02, president of the Alumni Board, will represent alumni for a two-year term on the Board of Trustees.

The Board of Trustees is responsible for assisting the College in legal and fiduciary decisions; approving the mission and strategic goals of the organization; and establishing policies.

The Board of Trustees currently consists of 33 members and five people who are Trustees Emeriti. Ronald W. Leftwich ’64 of Houston, Texas, is the chairman.

Ehrhart has been the president and CEO of Michelmann Steel Inc., in Quincy, Ill., since 2006. She is the great-great-granddaughter of J.H. Michelmann, who founded the business in 1865. After working in Chicago as a senior cost and scheduling engineer for Peterson & Co., a litigation support consulting firm, and as a project coordinator for Metra, a commuter railroad, Ehrhart returned to Quincy in 1991 to become executive vice president of the family business.

She was named a Woman of Achievement by the Quincy YWCA in 1998 and was part of Leadership Illinois’ Class of 2012. She is a member of the Illinois Wesleyan Council for Women, the Illinois Wesleyan Parent Board, the Michelmann Foundation, the Blessing Foundation, the Good Samaritan Home Foundation and the Quincy Area Project.

Ehrhart graduated from Quincy High School in 1980. She received a bachelor’s degree in physics from Illinois Wesleyan University in Bloomington, Ill., in 1984, and a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Illinois in Champaign, Ill., in 1986. She is a registered engineering intern in Illinois and also is a member of Chi Epsilon, the national civil engineering honor society.

Ehrhart lives in Quincy with her husband, Rick. They have three children.

Driscoll has been an agency field specialist for State Farm in East Peoria, Ill., since June 2001. She grew up in Quincy and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Culver-Stockton, then moved to Arizona and started her career with State Farm in auto claims in Scottsdale, Ariz., in 1986. She later moved to Bloomington and worked in the convention and travel department until she took her current position.

Driscoll is a member of the Alpha Xi Delta sorority and worked with C-SC’s Alumni Office to raise funds to build the Alpha Xi Delta Plaza. She served on the Alumni Board for more than two years and later also served as president from 2008 to 2013. She recently joined the Peoria Rotary Club, is a member of the Zoning Board of Appeals in East Peoria and volunteers for St. Jude Children’s Hospital and the Salvation Army.

Driscoll and her husband, Steve, have been married for almost 24 years. They have two dogs, Maggie and Lucy.

Viorel is a financial planner with Raymond James Financial Services in Hannibal. He has worked in the financial services industry since 2002. Before joining Raymond James in November 2017, he was a financial advisor and branch manager with Wells Fargo Advisors FiNet for 14 months and a director of investment services at HNB Bank for 12 years. He earned a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a minor in communications from Culver-Stockton College in 2002.

Viorel is the president of the Mark Twain Home Foundation. He is a member of the Hannibal Early Bird Kiwanis, Knights of Columbus, Holy Family Church, Marion County Services for the Developmentally Disabled and the Hannibal Y Men’s Club. He combined with his business partner, Kenneth Greger ’78, to provide funding in 2018 to refurbish the locker room for the C-SC football team.

Viorel lives in Hannibal.
