CANTON, Mo. — Dr. Dylan Marney, Culver-Stockton College associate professor of music and chair of the Division of Civic Engagement, Humanities, and Performing Arts, will take the stage as the featured performer in the Hannibal Arts Council’s Casual Classics series this weekend.
The recital is set for 2 p.m. Sunday, April 12, at the Hannibal Arts Council, located at 105 S. Main St. in Hannibal. The recital is open free to the public.
Dr. Marney will perform solo piano works by Mozart and Chopin. The performance will feature a Kawai grand piano graciously on loan to the Hannibal Arts Council from the family of Jason Dugger. According to the Hannibal Arts Council, the Casual Classics series provides an accessible and welcoming concert experience, offering audiences an opportunity to enjoy exceptional classical music in an intimate setting. Designed to help “classical music meet community,” the series appeals to seasoned enthusiasts and first-time listeners alike.
Dr. Marney, an accomplished pianist and scholar, holds a Doctor of Musical Arts in piano performance from the University of Arizona. An award-winning performer, he has appeared as a soloist throughout the region and nation and continues to compose and research electro-acoustic works for film and multimedia.
