A Career That Adds Up

How much water flows down the Mississippi River in an hour? How does Google know what pages are relevant to your search? Is that statistic that you read on social media trustworthy? What are the odds of a .300 hitter getting at least 2 hits in their next 5 at-bats? How can the use of software enhance students’ learning of geometry? Mathematics, the language of the physical and human sciences, plays a crucial part in answering these and many other exciting questions! In addition to providing an ideal environment for honing one’s problem-solving skills, majoring in mathematics opens up a wide world of employment opportunities in a wide variety of STEM professions and academic fields. Mathematics majors are routinely among the highest scorers on the GRE, LSAT, MCAT and a variety of other pre-graduate and pre-professional examinations due to their highly-developed skills in logic and problem-solving.

The C-SC Difference

As a mathematics major at Culver-Stockton College, you will enjoy small class sizes that enable you to work closely with your peers and professors. Our experience shows this will enhance your conceptual understanding of mathematics. The flexibility in the mathematics major also allows you to choose elective courses to specialize in theoretical or applied mathematics. You can also double major in related fields such as computer science, biology, chemistry and finance.

During my time in taking classes in the Math Department, I have really enjoyed the learning environment within the math program. The professors are always willing to help and work around my schedule as a collegiate athlete, if needed. I am confident that these courses are going to prepare me for my future!

While at C-SC I had phenomenal faculty.

I enjoyed my professors' teaching methods and also enjoyed getting to know them over my four years. They pushed me in the field of mathematics while also being flexible during basketball season. I’m very thankful for having them as teachers.
