Culver-Stockton College’s Institute of Management Accountants (IMA) student chapter has received multiple national recognitions. This year’s winners will be celebrated at IMA’s Annual Student Leadership Conference, which will take place November 9-11th at the Marriott Marquis Houston.
The IMA completed required programming including guest speakers, community service projects, company tours, social events, and participating in the Student Leadership Conference, the Clark Johnson Achievement Award and the student scholarship competition. The C-SC IMA Student Chapter has been recognized with the Gold Award for the past consecutive fifteen years and has been awarded the Outstanding Student Chapter recognition in eleven of the past fourteen years.
Dr. Dell Ann Janney, Associate Dean of Instruction, MBA Program Chair and Professor of Accounting expresses her pride in her students: “The members of the IMA are devoted to fulfillment of the requirements for the Award of Excellence program. This award is a wonderful recognition of their hard work. It is terrific that their accomplishments are recognized by the National IMA,”
A member of the C-SC IMA student chapter, Emily Gold, has also taken home the “gold.” She has been selected to receive the 2017 IMA Memorial Education Fund (MEF) Scholarship in the amount of $2,500. Students competing for the award must submit an application along with two faculty recommendations to support the nomination. After receiving the award, students must turn in an official transcript from the spring 2017 semester. Culver-Stockton College is proud of the success of Emily Gold.
Janney shared, “A C-SC student has been the recipient of the IMA Memorial Education Fund Scholarship for almost every year for the past 20 years. Dr. Janney serves as IMA Student Chapter Advisor and worked with students to establish the IMA Student Chapter in 1997. Janney stated, “We are proud of Emily Gold and her accomplishments. She represented the IMA Student Chapter at the Annual Student Leadership Conference in Detroit, MI and has been instrumental in the community service projects that the IMA has undertaken.”
The purpose of the student chapter of the IMA is to bring a closer relationship among those interested in accounting, finance, and business. This organization will provide the opportunity to develop valuable contacts with those already successful in the above fields. The intent is to broaden the students’ understanding of the field and promote excellence in the academic performance with each student.
