Senior lecturer in business recipient of Helsabeck Prize for Excellence in Teaching

CANTON, Mo. — Eric Larson, a senior lecturer in business, is the recipient of the Helsabeck Prize for Excellence in Teaching at Culver-Stockton College. He was recognized during the Honors Day Convocation held in the Alexander Campbell Auditorium and shown live online on May 12.

Dr. Kelly M. Thompson, president of the College, said after giving Larson the award, “You have embraced the experiential philosophy of Culver-Stockton College’s curriculum by taking your past experiences as a businessman and entrepreneur and sharing your knowledge and educating the next wave of business hopefuls. You add a real-life and personal touch to the information you pass along to your students. You engage them through conversation about real-life questions and dilemmas.”

Larson, who lives in Quincy, Ill., joined the Culver-Stockton faculty in 2011. Before coming to Canton, he was the managing partner of S.U.R. Inc. of Quincy from 2004 to 2011, an investment representative for Edward Jones Investments in Quincy from 2000 to 2004 and the general manager/sales manager for Cantrell Inc. of Galesburg, Ill., from 1994 to 2000.

Larson earned his bachelor’s degree from Quincy University in 1994 and his master of business administration degree from QU in 2007. He is completing coursework toward completion of his doctorate in marketing specialization from Liberty University.

Larson received the president’s award for exemplary service to the college and community from Culver-Stockton in 2016.
