Scott Wills will serve as vice president for advancement, and Melanie Lechtenberg will lead the enrollment management team at the college.

Culver-Stockton College (C-SC), a private liberal arts college offering 80 major and minor tracks, has announced the appointment of two vice presidents to the campus leadership team. Scott Wills has been named the vice president for advancement, and Melanie Lechtenberg is the new vice president for enrollment management.

Wills comes to C-SC from Alma College in Michigan, where, as vice president, he was responsible for leading the advancement team, including the areas of major and planned gifts, alumni relations, advancement services, prospect research, and stewardship.

Prior to his service with Alma, Wills served in various capacities of increasing leadership over two decades at Ohio Northern University, including Assistant Vice President, Senior Director of Development, and Director of Annual Giving. In addition to his advancement work, Wills served as a Women’s Tennis Coach. He earned his bachelor’s degree in business administration from Ohio Northern in 1987 and an MBA from Ashland University in 1991.

Before moving to higher education, Wills had a successful career in the private sector at American Electric Power (AEP), holding various positions in marketing, public relations, and new product development. He has also been a leadership organizational volunteer for various non-profit organizations, including United Way, Junior Achievement, and Phi Mu Delta Fraternity.

Wills brings extensive campaign experience to Culver-Stockton, having led several successful comprehensive and targeted campaigns, and increasing participation and support from alumni, corporations, foundations, and the overall constituency. The campaigns realized significant increases in support for capital projects, program enrichment, student scholarships, annual support, experiential learning, STEM, the arts, and athletics.

Lechtenberg comes to C-SC from John Wood Community College in Quincy, where she served as dean of records, registrar, and financial aid. She brings her student services experience to her new role at C-SC after serving as dean of enrollment at the community college prior to her most recent position. As part of the President’s Cabinet, she contributed to budget processes, strategic planning, and enrollment management.

Before that, she worked at Quincy University associated with university advancement, including the areas of grants and resources, capital campaigns, annual funds, and the annual local business campaign. She is a graduate of Quincy University, receiving her bachelor’s degree (1989) and master’s degree (2006) in business administration.

“We are proud to add both Scott and Melanie to our team of leadership because we know their experience and passion for higher education will be a crucial part of our success and growth,” said Dr. Lauren B. Schellenberger, president of C-SC.

The addition of Wills and Lechtenberg as vice presidents follows other significant leadership appointments of the college in 2023, including Dr. Kim Gaither as interim provost and Schellenberger as president in July.
